Last updated: 25 January 2026
Niu Life Midwives Health & Wellness Ltd T/A Niu Life Midwives (niulifemidwives.co.nz) ("we", "us", "our") provides midwifery care, immunisation services, pregnancy triage assistance, parenting education, obstetric consultations, lactation support and related services.
These Terms & Conditions apply to all services provided by us, including when you book an appointment, attend a clinic visit, use our website (niulifemidwives.co.nz), or otherwise engage with Niu Life Midwives.
By using our services or website, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.
Services Overview Niu Life Midwives provides:
Lead Maternity Carer (LMC) midwifery services (antenatal (pregnancy), labour, birth, postnatal (after the birth)). Each midwife is self-employed and practices autonomously, meaning that they are solely responsible for their standard of practice and care.
Free immunisation for eligible Pasifika families (pregnancy boosters, childhood schedule, catch-up doses)
Pregnancy triage midwife assistance, parenting education, family planning, referrals to clinical experts and social services
Connections to obstetric specialists, laboratory services, hospital care, and other health providers when clinically appropriate and if directly related to your pregnancy.
All midwifery and maternity services are fully funded under New Zealand’s public maternity system for eligible individuals (NZ citizens, permanent residents, or those with a work permit valid for 2+ years, plus partners and babies). Please note that ultrasound service providers will charge a co-payment for pregnancy scans. Immunisation services are free for eligible individuals under the National Immunisation Schedule.
Eligibility & Confirmation
You must be eligible for publicly funded maternity care or immunisation to receive free midwifery services. Health New Zealand / Te Whatu Ora may require proof of eligibility (e.g., NHI number, passport, residency details). If you are not eligible, we will refer you to the appropriate services or discuss private payment options.
Appointments & Cancellations
We aim to offer same-day contact for new enquiries (midwifery triage).
Appointments must be booked in advance.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please contact your midwife directly (during business hours) and give at least 24 hours’ notice.
Late cancellations (less than 24 hours) or no-shows may result in a fee or affect future booking priority (except in emergencies). Your midwife will advise you of their preferences regarding communication with them.
We reserve the right to reschedule or cancel appointments if necessary (e.g., clinical emergencies, staff illness). We will notify you as soon as possible. It is your responsibility to inform your midwife of any change of contact information.
Payment
Funded services (LMC midwifery, eligible immunisations) are free for eligible clients.
Any non-funded services, private fees, or additional costs (e.g., private ultrasound, non-eligible vaccinations) may be quoted upfront and agreed before proceeding.
Privacy & Health Information
Your personal and health information is protected under the Privacy Act 2020 and Health Information Privacy Code 2020. See our separate Privacy Policy for full details.
Clinical Care & Responsibilities
Our midwives and clinicians provide care based on current best practice and your individual needs.
You agree to provide accurate information to help us deliver safe care.
You remain responsible for following advice and attending recommended appointments, tests, or referrals at the scheduled time.
We are not liable for outcomes outside our reasonable control (e.g., complications despite appropriate care).
In emergencies, call 111 or your midwife immediately.
Complaints & Feedback
If you have any concerns about your care or service, please speak to your midwife first. We take feedback seriously and will work to resolve issues promptly. You can also contact the Health and Disability Commissioner (0800 11 22 33 | www.hdc.org.nz) or the Midwifery Council of New Zealand if needed.
Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. The date at the top shows when they were last revised. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance.
