Whether you're newly pregnant, planning ahead, or simply exploring your options, our Triage Midwife will listen to your needs, answer your questions, and personally attempt to match you with the right midwife—one who shares your values.

This free, no-pressure service ensures you feel confident and connected from the very beginning. No long waits, no confusion—just warm, Pasifika-centred guidance to help you find the midwife who will walk alongside you throughout your pregnancy journey.

  • At Niu Life Midwives, our free community-based self-employed midwives (LMCs) are here to provide you with personalised care throughout your entire pregnancy journey.

As a dedicated LMC, your midwife will be your primary point of contact from the moment you confirm your pregnancy right through to 6 weeks after birth. This means:

    • One trusted midwife who knows you, your family, and your story, delivering care for you and your community

    • Full support for antenatal visits, birth planning, labour, birth, and postnatal recovery

    • Fully funded under New Zealand’s public maternity system for eligible families

For more information on your eligibility, click here.

Your LMC midwife is your advocate, your guide, and your partner – ensuring you feel safe, empowered, and supported every step of the way.

  • At Niu Life Midwives, your antenatal care is personalised, supportive, and fully wrapped in cultural safety.

From the moment you confirm your pregnancy, your dedicated Lead Maternity Carer (LMC) midwife becomes your trusted guide. We offer regular check-ups, baby monitoring, ultrasound referrals, and health assessments directly related to your pregnancy—all tailored to your needs.

These checkups are more than just an appointments—it’s a journey of empowerment, reassurance, preparing you and your family for a confident, healthy pregnancy and birth.

  • At Niu Life Midwives, your labour and birth experience is personal, empowering, and fully supported by your dedicated LMC Midwife.

Your midwife stays with you continuously throughout labour and birth, providing clinical expertise, and including other clinical experts when needed.

Your LMC Midwife is your advocate, ensuring you feel heard, respected, and safe.

  • At Niu Life Midwives, your postnatal care is gentle, thorough, and deeply supportive—helping you and your baby thrive in those precious first few weeks.

Your dedicated LMC Midwife provides up to 6 weeks of home or clinic visits, focusing on:

    • Your physical recovery after birth

    • Newborn health checks and growth monitoring

    • Breastfeeding support

    • Emotional wellbeing and screening for postnatal challenges

    • Advice on newborn care, including Safe Sleep, coping with a crying baby and timely referrals for ongoing care

Your LMC Midwife is there to offer supportive advice for you and your family.

  • At Niu Life Midwives, we support you with non-judgmental family planning and contraception services as part of your overall families wellness journey.

    • Personalised discussions about your options in a safe, culturally respectful space

    • Education on different contraception methods

    • Prescription and fitting of suitable contraception (where applicable)

    • Support for you and your partner

We understand Pasifika values, everything is confidential, and we can connect you to specialists or community resources if needed.

  • At Niu Life Midwives, we partner with trusted obstetric specialists (pregnancy doctor) to provide expert care when your pregnancy needs additional support.

If your pregnancy is high-risk, requires specialist monitoring, or you have any concerns that go beyond standard midwifery care, your LMC Midwife will seamlessly refer you to our hospital-based obstetric team.

    This collaborative approach ensures:

    • Continuity of care—your midwife remains your primary support, working closely with the obstetric team

    • Timely referrals without delay, so you and your family feel confident and secure

Your LMC Midwife will guide and inform you, regarding your options for extra obstetric or medical support.

  • At Niu Life Midwives, we believe strong parenting starts with knowledge, confidence, and community support.

Our parenting education sessions are designed especially for Pasifika families, with respect for your cultural values. These sessions are practical, welcoming, and free of judgment—helping you feel prepared and empowered as you welcome and raise your baby.

    We cover topics such as:

    • Bonding and emotional connection with your baby

    • Safe Sleep practices

    • Newborn care and hygiene

    • Breastfeeding support

    • Settling techniques and routines

    • Early childhood milestones and development

    • Self-care for parents

Sessions are held in small, supportive groups. You can bring partners, or support people—because it takes a village to raise a child.

Your midwife facilitator will guide you with warmth, and real-life experiences, so you leave each session feeling more confident and connected.

  • At Niu Life Midwives, we make laboratory testing simple and convenient for Pasifika pregnant women.

During your antenatal care, your LMC Midwife arranges essential lab tests to monitor your health. Occasionally, these tests can be done at our clinic, such as blood tests, urine samples, swabs, and any additional monitoring your pregnancy requires.

  • At Niu Life Midwives, we proudly partner with Health New Zealand employed midwives.

Whether you choose a hospital-employed community midwife or one of our self-employed LMCs, the focus is the same: you and your baby receive expert, respectful care that feels like family.

We make the process simple and stress-free so you can focus on your pregnancy with confidence.

Building and Protecting Stronger Pasifika Families

Vaccinations are one of the most powerful ways to protect communities from serious, preventable diseases. They build immunity, reduce the spread of illness in our close-knit communities, and give babies, children, and adults the best chance to stay healthy and thrive. In Pasifika families, where multi-generational households and close connections are central, immunisation is especially important—it safeguards not just one person, but the whole family and village.

Appointments and walk-ins welcome for our Pasifika community between Monday to Thursday, 9am to 4pm.

  • At Niu Life Midwives, we offer safe, recommended and trusted pregnancy vaccines (such as whooping cough/pertussis and influenza) to protect both you and your baby. These vaccines pass vital antibodies to your baby before birth, giving them early protection when they are most vulnerable.

Administered during your antenatal checkups, our vaccination Registered Nurses provide clear education, answers all questions with respect, and ensures the process feels gentle and trusting.

  • At Niu Life Midwives we offer the full and updated immunisation schedule starting from birth, with key vaccines in the first weeks and months to protect your baby when they need it most. Our welcoming, family-friendly environment understands your concerns, or anxieties and is here to make your vaccination a quick and easy one.

Your midwife or vaccinator explains each step clearly, so you feel confident and reassured. Every immunisation is delivered with patience, respect, and care—building strong immunity for your little ones.

  • At Niu Life Midwives we support growing Pasifika children and youth with age-appropriate catch-up and booster vaccinations, including protection against HPV, meningococcal disease, and other preventable illnesses.

Our clinic offers the flexibility of walk-ins, or appoinments—helping families stay protected through school years and beyond. Delivered with cultural understanding and no judgment, we make immunisation easy, welcoming, and empowering for children and teenagers.

  • Niu Life Midwives welcomes the whole family/village—siblings, grandparents, aunties, uncles, and partners—for eligible immunisations and boosters. We provide convenient, community-based access to vaccines that protect everyone in your home, especially in multi-generational Pasifika households.
